On Repeat

One of my greatest creative joys is designing repeat patterns. My fascination with them began back in school, where I first learned how to "tile" artwork to create seamless repeats. That simple discovery sparked an obsession that’s stayed with me ever since. There’s something deeply satisfying about taking a design and transforming it into a pattern that flows endlessly, with no visible start or end—a perfect blend of art and precision.

Over the last decade, I’ve taken that early passion and turned it into a true craft. I’ve created countless patterns that span a wide range of styles, from delicately intricate designs that demand a closer look to precise geometric layouts that exude symmetry and balance. Each pattern is its own unique puzzle, requiring a deep understanding of composition, colour, and flow to ensure it feels harmonious and visually captivating.

What sets my work apart is how I bring these patterns to life. They’re not just static designs—they’re made to move, wear, and be used. I’ve applied my patterns to an incredibly diverse range of products, from football shirts and swim shorts to wallpaper, notebooks, beach towels, Hawaiian shirts, and even full tracksuits. I love the challenge of adapting a design to suit different mediums and making it shine, whether it’s a bold statement piece or a subtle, elegant texture.

For me, repeat patterns are more than just a creative exercise—they’re a way to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. A beautifully balanced pattern can elevate a product, turning it into something that stands out, sparks joy, and even tells a story. It’s not just about making something that looks good; it’s about creating something that people connect with, use, and love.

What I find most rewarding about this work is how it combines both creativity and technical skill. Designing a pattern requires artistic vision, but executing it seamlessly requires an almost mathematical precision. Every line, every colour, and every element needs to work in harmony to create a flow that feels effortless.

Repeat patterns are a cornerstone of my creative work and one of the areas where I’ve truly pushed myself to grow over the years. Whether I’m designing for apparel, interiors, or unique brand collaborations, I bring the same passion and dedication to each project. For me, the magic of a great repeat pattern lies in its ability to be both functional and beautiful—endlessly repeating, endlessly inspiring.
