MarkUp Promo
Some projects stand out not because they’re overly complex, but because they’re simply fun to create and perfectly aligned with the kind of work I love to do. One such project was developing a series of promotional social media content for MarkUp.io during my time collaborating with them.
The brief was straightforward: create engaging content to spark conversations and drive sign-ups. Working closely with the Creative Lead, we decided to step away from typical tech messaging and embrace a playful, unexpected approach. We landed on the concept of a training your budgie—highlighting how MarkUp.io saves teams significant time during the feedback phase of a project. Fun fact: it’s about the same amount of time it takes to teach a budgie to talk.
I collaborated with longtime partner Tony Thompson to shoot the video remotely, personally handling the filming and contributing to the edits to amplify the humour and quirkiness. The result was a refreshingly weird and irreverent tone that stood out from standard industry messaging.
As a bonus, we also created a playful cheeseburger video while the camera was rolling. This impromptu piece became a lighthearted promo that resonated with audiences, sparking conversations and engagement. The whole concept cost only a couple of hundred dollars and shows the power of a creative mind.
I love this kind of work because it combines humour and creativity with effective messaging, offering the audience a fun experience while delivering key product insights.
